This messy treat is a common dessert at many get-togethers with my friends, and a creation of my best friend Kyra. The name comes from the fact that the contents roughly ressemble those of mud pie, but the whole looks a lot more like a mess than anything else. As for the hallway part, it's simply a tribute to the hallway most of us used to eat lunch in when we were in high school.
Invite a whole pile of friends over, and feed them a tiny main course before assembling this creation. The measurements are only approximations, so dump in as much of any ingredient as you like. For true authenticity, don't bother serving it in plates. Instead, give everyone a spoon, use a very big bowl and let them fight over the premium spots. *GRiN*
1 panful of chocolate brownies
7-8 scoops ice cream (coffee, mocha or chocolate work best)
1/2 cup pecans or other nuts (optional)
1 cup gourmet chocolate syrup (ie. President's Choice)
1/2 cup heavy cream, whipped
1. For best results, use homemade brownies still fairly warm from the oven, and the chewier, the better. Otherwise, store-bought will work fine.
2. Toss the brownies into the bottom of a large bowl. Top with the ice cream and nuts.
3. Drizzle about half of the chocolate syrup all over the mess in the bowl.
4. Top with dollops of whipped cream, and drizzle what remains of the chocolate sauce on top of that. Serve immediately before the brownies cool.
